Traditional Hand Painted French Provincial Kitchens in Adelaide

For this Kitchen  Renovation at picturesque Myponga Beach, we first needed to modify the existing living space as part of our overall design. We started by removing a wall that divided the Kitchen / family area from the dining / lounge rooms. In doing so we, in turn created a new open linear space which then enabled us to re-orientate the new Kitchen design that allowed it to maximize the stunning rural sea views. We then also extend the back wall to the kitchen, creating additional length for the new Kitchen to sit and face these picture windows. In prep, we also lifted the existing tiled flooring throughout so that after us installing this beautiful traditional hand-painted French Provincial Kitchen we were then also able to lay this new parquetry timber flooring.

In the adjacent Family area, we also designed, constructed and installed a new chimney column for a new Escea Gas Fireplace and a new TV alcove above this. For this, we used Boral LedgeStone and we then flanked this with new French Provincial Style Bookcases to match the new Kitchen. We also added into the design more Boral LedgeStone walling, which we set deep behind the Kitchen's AGA Falcon Oven Range; whereby creating strong continuity to these adjoining spaces. Once this structural work was complete and we had then custom made and Installed this Traditional Hand Painted French Provincial Kitchen, we then set down the new Boral Stringybark Parquetry Flooring, running throughout all these rooms with a continuous banding at the outer edge made from contrasting Jarrah and Tasmanian Oak; whereby unifying all these living areas with this beautiful warm timber.

We custom made this beautiful French Provincial Kitchen, using traditional Hand Painted panels and select White Fantasy Granite for the Benchtop from our Granite range. In keeping with this French Provincial Style, we incorporated characteristic Bolection Moulded Drawer fronts that contrast to the Raised Panel Doors. We also included our traditional Reid End Column design with Roundel capitals. All the tall cabinets here were also topped with our Classic head moulding that includes an ornate Dentil Mould relief; again in keeping with this classic French Provincial style.

Being true to this style we designed and made a new Inglenook Fireplace in the Kitchen, which incorporated an Over Mantle with Hand Carved support Corbels and set into this Inglenook the AGA Falcon Oven Range. Within this Inglenook design, we then concealed a Whispair Monte Carlo 120 (1200mm wide) Rangehood unit, which has a separate in-line motor which housed up in the roof space so to achieve very quiet rangehood extraction. We designed this Inglenook to be 800mm deep from the front and then built a Boral LedgeStone feature wall behind the Oven Range which we also back-lit to illuminate the cooking area and then we encased this behind a clear Glass Splashback for easy cleaning.


We concealed our client's favourite Coffee machine, building this into a pull-out unit in the right Inglenook pillar cabinetry for easy access. We also concealed within the Island a Miele fully integrated Dishwasher; using false Drawer front panels. Our clients selected a Belfast Butlers sink, along with a Mono-block Ionian tap set by Perrin & Rowe, which again are well in keeping with this beautiful French Provincial Style.

Overall this was a very satisfying and very complex project, which resulted in a huge transformation of the original space; which resulted in a Kitchen Renovation that is now a very family-friendly area; creating a very inviting space when entertaining friends while also now taking maximum advantage of this home's spectacular views of the sea and surrounding countryside.
