Paradiso Granite Counter tops and Splashbacks with Gloss Two Pack Panels
Our Adelaide clients Kathy and Andre at Rosslyn Park kindly approached us with their vision to do this luxuriously modern Kitchen Renovation for them. Their beautiful home was only 12 years old and had been designed by Architects in the Modernist Style, fashioned with clean lines, open spaces and rooms with lots of picture windows. Our clients had purchased the property from the original owners, where it was only the existing cabinetry that had let down this quality home, and therefore we were engaged to renovate their existing Kitchen and Bathrooms. Kathy and Andre wished to preserve the footprint of their original kitchen; "as much as possible" so not to disrupt their ceramic tiles, which ran throughout their home. With the few spare tiles available, we were able to achieve this basic footprint and still change the kitchen layout; improving the kitchen design, storage, bench space and the kitchen's workflow, making this kitchen a better equipt, more functional, and enjoyable space to use and spend time with family and friends.
With this new kitchen design, our clients updated and added to the modern Contemporary Style; remaining true to their home's smart Architectural Style.
For this new kitchen, Kathy and Andre selected flat panel White Gloss Two-Pack Polyurethane finish for their doors and panels, which we buffed and finished to a hard-wearing mirror finish. Being a Geologist our client also wanted to make extensive use of their favourite Granite - Paradiso Granite where we made and installed solid 30mm thick Counter Tops and 20mm thick Granite Splashbacks creating a contrasting band between the vivid gloss white layers to full dramatic effect.
Kathy and Andre wished that we include spacious glass display cabinets facing the Living room to display their extensive collections, which they had picked up during their world travels. We also made corner drawers for this project; where our client's insisted that they did not want conventional corner cabinets.
Our kitchen design included 20 custom-built wooden drawers which we fitted with concealed, Blum, Full Extension Soft Closing Runners for easy operation and full access, opening all the way to the back of each drawer.
In keeping with this modern style, our clients selected new quality Miele Stainless Steel Appliances, two wall ovens topped with a Miele Built-in Combination Microwave plus a Semi-Integrated Dishwasher and an efficient Undermount Rangehood, where we then matched these with an Australian Made Oliveri Monet double sink. In seeking design continuity we were also able to source matching Stainless Steel Cabinet Handles in the same design to the handles used on the Miele Ovens and Combination Microwave Appliances.
Contemporary to this Style we also brought up all the tall units to the ceiling, square set the plasterboard and then finished the Cabinetry off to the ceiling with a contemporary 18mm black shadow moulding.
All in all, this was a great project where as usual we were really happy to see our work adding significant value back into a beautifully designed, quality Adelaide home; giving it the quality kitchen and bathroom cabinetry that it truly deserved.
