An Adelaide made French Provincial Style Kitchen Renovation Finished in Satin Two-Pack.

From early in their relationship, Ken and Gillian dreamt of living in a fully restored period home and over the years they also became keen collectors of fine antiques. When finally coming into retirement age they realized this ambition when they decided to move from Melbourne to their favorite holiday spot at Adelaide’s Victor Harbor. Here Ken and Gillian purchased an Edwardian period style home circa 1920's, which still had many of its original features including stunning plaster ceilings and they engaged us for their renovations to their dining room and kitchen, along with other general carpentry, property repair and restoration in order to bring their home back to the style and quality finish it so deserved while making it more livable for our modern times.

Ken and Gillian asked us to replace their already once renovated kitchen and dining room cabinets from the 1960's with new custom made cabinetry in the French Provincial style; while redesigning the kitchen layout to have a better workflow, double the storage with easier access to crockery, cookware and foodstuffs, while also designing to accommodate modern appliances where we have hidden these from view so not to distract from this period style as well as using a period style Oven Range.

We made these French Provincial Kitchen and Dining Room cabinets with a satin Two-Pack finish in New Antique White USA. Ken and Gillian also teamed this with Cream & Gold Galaxy Granite benchtops, while we also incorporated traditional contrast style bolection mould drawer fronts, spindle moulded Reeded Columns with Roundel Capitals, a Apothecary Drawers, wide Inglenook Fireplace, Hand Carved Corbels and Mantel Piece, Dentil Head Moulds, fluted Butlers Sink, 100mm square wall tiles and black French Twist Cage Handles; all making up the typical details of this French Provincial Style.

With ceilings at 3.2 meters high we custom made our cabinets to 2.4, we incorporated 23 full extension drawers with Blum soft close runners into the design for easy access and added storage. We included a large wide Pantry an Aventos Lift Front Appliance cabinet, Stainless Steel cutlery inserts, Large Glass Door display cabinets with solid shelving and two-pack interiors for Gill’s antique porcelain and in-built task lighting throughout to ensure all work areas are well lit. We also designed Ken & Gillian’s kitchen to have a hidden Miele Dishwasher, Perrin & Rowe Provence mixer taps and through our contacts with Andi & Co we also helped Ken and Gill find the last Duel Fuel Falcon Elan Oven available in Australia while also securing them a significant price saving. We also included into the design two super quiet and super powerful Falmec Milano Rangehoods to help keep this kitchen clean and free of cooking odors.

In addition to the cabinetry for this Adelaide kitchen renovation our work here also involved new brickwork and solid plastering, new positioning of all electrical, gas and plumbing lines, replacement as well as polishing of new Baltic Pine timber floors, repairs and replacement of Architraves and Skirtings and repairs and replacement to plaster ceilings and plaster cornices. We also replaced all internal doors and fittings throughout the home due to existing disrepair as well as Calking, Sanding and Polishing all the remaining Timber floors throughout the home. All in all this was a very challenging renovation project with lots of intricate detailed work required to ensure the authenticity, quality and the ongoing longevity of this beautiful period home at Victor Harbor.
