a lovely period home that was built at the turn of the 19th century
Our clients Brian and Kirsty of Broadview, South Australia have a lovely period home that was built at the turn of the 19th century. Their home had also been sympathetically extended some ten years ago; adding a large family living area and bedrooms to the back; however the kitchen was not touched at that time and was sitting on its own, enclosed by its four walls. Brian and Kirsty now wanted to open up their kitchen and connect it into this new open Living area whereby bringing these rooms together as one common area and making their home a more sociable space for their growing young family.
For their Kitchen Renovation, Brian and Kirsty selected Federation Shaker style doors for their Kitchen renovation to match in with the existing joinery throughout their home where they finished these doors in a White Satin Two-Pack and then dressed these with Satin Stainless Steel Cuffia handles. These complimented the period of their home while also giving their new Kitchen a more slightly modern feel.
Our clients added to this style with Stainless Steel Appliances and a Bowed Glass canopy rangehood. They selected a hidden Miele Fully Integrated Dishwasher so not to break the line of the cabinets where we set this up with Drawer fronts instead of a single panel and then they finished of this design by selecting easy to care for Opti-clear Glass Splashbacks, which they finished with the traditional Federation colour being a Dulux Claret.
Typical of this period home, Brian and Kirsty also chose to use a Belfast Sink and incorporated in with this a separate Hi-Flow filtered water system. Our clients also chose to use lots of Overhead and Pantry glass doors where they chose to use Viridian Narrow Reeded Glass panels typical of the period so to break up the solid look while also this adding points of interest to the Kitchen.
We added features such as 6 deep pot drawers with Blum Full Extension Runners for added easy to access storage, Built-in slide-out Rubbish Bins, Vertical storage for Trays, a sliding Two-Tiered Cutlery Tray, a hideaway Microwave Oven unit, integrated Wine Racks, a large Pantry, a Tambour Roll-Front Appliance cabinet and lots of easy access storage. Brian and Kirsty completed this Kitchen design with their selection of the highly resilient, Quantum Quartz in the colour “Silky” where this Reconstituted Stone is hygienic, easy to care for, hard wearing where as well as being beautiful is a great work surface for baking.
